Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Dublin (Hybrid) Contract Duration: 12 Months (Daily Rate Contract) Industry: Financial Services Our client, a leading global financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team during a major cloud and infrastructure transformation programme.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for a DevOps professional who combines deep expertise across CI/CD, automation, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering with the ability to mentor engineers and drive best practices across development teams.

The successful candidate will play a key role in modernising enterprise platforms, helping to accelerate the transition from traditional monolithic applications to scalable, cloud-native architectures built on Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices across multiple engineering teams.

Drive infrastructure automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tooling.

Design and support cloud-native platform solutions within Azure environments.

Champion DevOps best practices, platform reliability, security, and operational excellence.

Collaborate closely with software engineering, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers within the Platform Engineering function.

Identify opportunities to improve deployment processes, automation, scalability, and developer experience.

Support the adoption of Kubernetes-based container platforms and modern engineering practices.

Required Skills & Experience Extensive experience in a senior DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role.

Strong expertise building and managing CI/CD pipelines in enterprise environments.

Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks.

Proven experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerised workloads.

Strong scripting and automation skills.

Experience supporting large-scale production platforms and distributed systems.

Ability to operate independently, make technical decisions, and influence engineering direction.

Previous mentoring, coaching, or technical leadership experience.

Desirable Experience

Financial services, banking, or highly regulated industry experience.

Experience supporting cloud transformation or platform modernisation programmes.

Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and platform reliability practices.

Familiarity with modern DevOps toolchains and GitOps methodologies.
