Senior Manager, Software Engineering – Core Technology Cpl are partnering with a leading organisation in the financial technology space to appoint a Senior Manager, Software Engineering.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to manage a portfolio of critical cloud-based applications, lead and develop a high-performing software engineering team, and work closely with product and architecture stakeholders to shape delivery priorities.

Responsibilities Lead a team of software engineers delivering scalable, secure and resilient web-based applications.

Own the technical delivery of a portfolio of business-critical applications and services.

Partner with product owners, architects and senior business stakeholders to translate strategy and requirements into prioritised technical roadmaps and delivery plans.

Drive modern engineering standards across software development, testing, deployment and operational excellence.

Support the design and delivery of cloud-native, microservices-based solutions.

Manage, mentor and develop engineering talent, supporting career progression, performance and team engagement.

Lead hiring activity and help build a strong, inclusive and high-performing engineering culture.

Ensure consistent adoption of best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code and containerisation.

Collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders across multiple locations.

Balance delivery, technical quality, risk and operational priorities across several workstreams.

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline. 7+ years’ experience in software engineering, ideally delivering secure, scalable and resilient web applications. 5+ years’ direct people-management experience leading software engineering teams.

Strong hands-on software engineering background across both frontend and backend development.

Experience delivering cloud-based applications and services within a modern engineering environment.

Good understanding of microservices architecture, cloud deployments and API-led systems.

Proven experience managing delivery for mission-critical or highly available applications.

Exposure to CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code and containerisation.

Demonstrated experience hiring, developing and retaining engineering talent.

Strong stakeholder management, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Experience managing remote or geographically distributed engineering teams would be advantageous.

On offer Base salary of €80,000–€85,000.

Up to 20% annual bonus potential.
