My client is looking for a Lead AI Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join their organisation in Cork. This is a permanent role.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience designing, developing and deploying AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions into production environments.

  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and complexity analysis.

  • Proven experience deploying cloud-native applications to Kubernetes environments across Azure, AWS or Google Cloud using Docker, Helm Charts and containerisation technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with ML Ops practices, Azure AI Foundry, Large Language Models (LLMs), Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Computer Vision.

  • Experience developing REST APIs, designing NoSQL and relational database solutions, and optimising application performance and scalability.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and deployment of AI and Machine Learning solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure and production-ready.

  • Collaborate with AI Architects and stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective AI-driven technology solutions.

  • Support the development, customisation and fine-tuning of Large Language Models and Machine Learning models for specific business use cases.

  • Conduct detailed code reviews, mentor AI Developers, and promote engineering best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.

  • Design and implement ML Ops pipelines, monitoring, observability and governance frameworks to support reliable AI operations.

  • Provide technical leadership across AI programmes, contributing to delivery planning, change enablement, governance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
